The Savonlinna Region Tourist Information is a free source of information regarding the greater Savonlinna area, places to visit, local events, products and services. Besides tips for holidaymakers, the Tourist Information also provides a variety of brochures and maps of the region.
The Tourist Information is located on Nälkälinnanmäki Hill in the Lake Saimaa Nature and Museum Centre, which also contains exhibitions by the Savonlinna Regional Museum and the Finnish Forest Administration. There is a separate entrance fee for the exhibitions. As the Lake Saimaa Nature and Museum centre’s building in Riihisaari in undergoing renovations, the Tourist Information is projected to remain at the Nälkälinnanmäki premises until the end of 2020.
At the foot of Nälkälinnanmäki Hill there is a parking area, which requires the use of a parking disc during the summer months. Near the entrance of the Lake Saimaa Nature and Museum Centre, on top of Nälkälinnanmäki Hill, there are a few handicapped parking spaces, which are available for appropriately marked vehicles to use throughout the year. Apart from these spots, there is no parking on the premises.
See the seasonal parking area maps for summer and winter, attached. Summertime visitors are advised to look up a nearby parking spot in advance and walk from there.
