Forest Surprise Crêpe
Our dish is inspired by the opera The Fairy Queen, based on William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and of course, our beloved Sulosaari. But what is a summer night’s dream in Sulosaari?
It is a midnight swim from the cliff, the glow of the moon bridge, and the gentle lapping of the waves. It is an adventure through the forest, where nature’s treasures await. Sulosaari is brimming with delights – lingonberries, blueberries, and spruce shoots ripen in their own time during the warm summer days and nights.
The Forest Surprise brings this experience to your plate: a crêpe, topped with local Saimaan Marja blueberry jam and our homemade spruce shoot syrup made at Kalliolinna. The dish is finished off with fresh lingonberries from nearby forests and a generous dollop of real whipped cream.
This dish is a flavor journey into the summer magic of Sulosaari!

Crepe Café Kalliolinna, the sweetest summer café
Crepe Café Kalliolinna is located on Sulosaari, just a stone’s throw from the town center, in a small pink villa built in 1889. At Kalliolinna, you can enjoy coffee, tea, pancakes with sweet and savory fillings, as well as a rotating selection of sweet treats and ice cream. The café also hosts changing art exhibitions during the summer. Sulosaari is easily reached via Kasinosaari, just follow the signs.
