From Field to Table Day at Museum Grounds

Kesälahti-seura association’s “From Field to Table” heritage day will take place at the Kesälahti Local Heritage Museum area during the Saimaa Harvest Festival weekend, welcoming visitors of all ages. On Friday, the program will be particularly focused on youth and schoolchildren.

This event offers a chance to explore traditional food production methods of the past through a diverse guided tour. Participants will learn about farming tools, grain processing, and the production and handling of meat and dairy products, all presented through the museum’s rich collection, barns, setting, and heritage stories. The program also includes traditional games and snacks.

On Friday, the Martha Association Kesälahti will host a karelian pie-making workshop. On Saturday, a soup lunch made from local ingredients is served at the museum area but the highlight of the day is the traditional “Huttujuhla” (Porridge Festival) at 6:00 PM in the charming 300-year-old Savutupa (smoke house).
