Restaurant Metsä presents a unique signature dish in summer 2025, created in honor of the Savonlinna Opera Festival’s production of Macbeth. The dish draws its inspiration from the opera’s mysterious atmosphere and the rich flavors of local ingredients. It has been designed by award-winning head chef Ilkka Lääveri.
Macbeth’s Game is a tribute to local game. The elk tartare is carefully prepared from hand-cut meat, accompanied by locally foraged porcini mushrooms. The dish is full of deep, earthy flavors and nuances that echo the enigmatic world of Macbeth. If elk is not available, the dish will be prepared with “Huitti wagyu” beef from Aseman Taidelaituri.
Macbeth’s Game offers an unforgettable taste experience that beautifully complements the ambiance of the Savonlinna Opera Festival. The dish will be available at Restaurant Metsä, run by Sari Helin and Ilkka Lääveri at Hotel Punkaharju starting from June 1st, for as long as the catch lasts.
