Welcome to the Hummovaara village hall to celebrate the Saimaa Harvest Festival with local flavours, rural charm and a warm sense of community.
Hummovaara, located in Kitee, is a vibrant village of around 150 residents, known for its strong sense of community and active local life. The village was named North Karelia’s Village of the Year in 1999 at the Kajakka 2000 event – and with good reason.
At the heart of the village stands the Hummovaara Village Hall, a former school whose educational activities ended in the 20th century. Today, the building is owned by the local village association and serves as a shared gathering place and a venue for a variety of community events.
On Saturday, September 13th during the Saimaa Harvest Festival, the village hall in Hummovaara will host a cozy café where you can enjoy delicious waffles and taste the sweet and savory flavors of summer—picked fresh from nearby forests and gardens.
There’s a small playground for children, and in case of rain, the indoor gym will be open for use.
You’re warmly welcome to visit this small but spirited village—located just a few hundred meters from Highway 71!
