Flavours of Karelia and Cultural Heritage at Juhanantupa – Sunday 14 September
On Sunday of the Saimaa Harvest Festival, Juhanantupa invites you to enjoy a traditional feast table where Karelian hospitality meets locally sourced ingredients. Fish from lakes Puruvesi and Pyhäjärvi, Finnish meat, forest berries, and produce from the cottage’s own garden offer culinary experiences that honour the region’s food heritage.
This beautifully carved log building Juhanantupa is a fine example of traditional Karelian wooden architecture. Inside, visitors can admire changing art exhibitions, while the historical courtyard tells stories of the past: the Lönnrot Pine and a nearby ancient sacrificial stone take you deep into the area’s cultural roots.
Welcome to Juhanantupa – come taste, experience and feel the spirit of Karelia.
Feast served on Sunday 14 Sept from 12:00 to 16:00, café treats available from 10:00.
Juhanantupa has been selected as a Gastronomy Finland destination in 2023 and is also part of the Karelia à la carte culinary tourism network.
Full Harvest Festival menu will be published in the event calendar »
