The monument “Kollaan kivet” (“Stones of Kollaa”) has been erected in honour of the soldiers who lost their lives in the battle of Kollaa during the Winter War 1939-1940. The monument was designed by pastor, MP Antti J. Rantamaa, director of the board of the Kollaa fighters’ tradition committee. The stones of the monument with the engravings home – religion – fatherland have been transported to Tallisaari island in the beginning of October 1958; one stone from Joroinen, one from Kerimäki and one from Rantasalmi. The construction work of the monument began 6.10.1958 according to the plan by city architect Ilmo Suominen.
