Savonlinnan Syystulet is a set of events organized annually in Savonlinna to celebrate the beginning of autumn season. The dates for this year’s event are September 4th, 5th and 6th. The program consists of many events organized in the centre of Savonlinna, as well as in Olavinlinna Castle and its surroundings.
Marketplace atmosphere can be experienced at Medieval Market (Keskiaikamarkkinat), where natural cosmetics, many kinds of handicrafts and other items, as well as delicious dishes and drinks can be bought. Sweet and savoury delicacies as well as handicrafts are also sold at Autumn Market (Syystori).
Night of the Arts (Taiteiden yö) on Friday evening pampers art lovers with many events in various locations around the city centre. Relaxation in the light of lanterns on a lake shore can be experienced at Rauhoitu Rannalla -event on Friday and Saturday evenings after 6pm. Fishing on a pier can be tried at Laituripilkki on Saturday after 4pm. Those looking for action should head to Activity Arena (Aktiviteettiarena), where activities especially for kids are available.
Olavinlinna Castle has guided tours in English at 11am, 1pm and 3pm from Friday to Sunday. Cruises on tar steamship Mikko depart from passenger harbour at Savonlinna marketplace on Friday at 6pm and on Saturday at 2pm. Lake Saimaa Nature and Museum Centre (Maakuntamuseo) is open on Friday until 9pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
