Juhanan Tupa is located in the idyllic village of Hummovaara, in a beautiful Karelian-style log house where food traditions, culture and history come together.
During Saimaan Satojuhlat, you can enjoy the flavours and traditions of Karelia, dishes prepared from local ingredients and genuine Karelian hospitality. Art exhibitions, the Lönnrot Pine and the Kalevala-inspired surroundings make every visit a memorable experience for all the senses.
Open Saturday–Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00.
The detailed menu will be published before the event.
Juhanan Tupa was built in honour of the traditional rune singer Juhana Kainulainen. Elias Lönnrot met Juhana on this very site, beneath the old pine tree in the yard, and listened to his spells and poems while collecting material for the Kalevala.
In 2023, Juhanan Tupa was selected as one of Finland’s Gastronomy destinations and is also a member of the Karelia à la carte culinary tourism network.
