Punkaharju Esker Nature Reserve is an example of esker formation at its most beautiful. The area’s natural features have been maintained with special emphasis on landscape values. Punkaharju’s naturally gorgeous landscape offers excellent opportunities for hikes of different lengths. There are three marked trails in Laukansaari Research Park and the Kokonharju Esker area. Additionally there are two marked and numerous unmarked but clearly visible trails through the terrain in the esker area. Punkaharju Nature Reserve area is easy to reach. Also its state as one of the Finland’s national landscapes makes it a popular outdoor recreation area.
